In less than 400 words, build a scene around a protagonist who tries
to help out another character.

----------------------------

Your story should focus on someone who sees a need for assistance and
decides to get involved. Give your readers a hint of the outcome.
However, sometimes the best of intentions can go south. Here's an
alternate reaction to the prompt: a kind act goes awry. The outcome
is definitely not what the protagonist had in mind.

How did you react to the protagonist's attempts to help or improve a
situation? Did you think that he/she was successful? Or, did it make
you wince and chuckle? Would you read further, if the story was
extended?
