Welcome to the MarketChat list.

This is a discussion list about the concept of "Story." Members will
post about stories they have read, heard, or seen. In this sense, a
story can be anything, fiction or non-fiction, books, movies, or other,
so long as it's interesting and expresses meanings we all can share
and learn how to make our own writing better. Like all IWW lists,
this group is meant to help members learn to be better writers.

Here's what you might see discussed, using a book as an example:

1) A brief abstract of what the book was about
2) The poster's reactions or observations, with examples
3) The aspects he felt were most important
4) The parts he loved and hated
5) The techniques used in its writing -- voice, POV, metaphor, symbolism, etc.
6) Its literary quality, entertainment quality, or information value.

MEMBERS beginning a new subject should include the title of the book
or film in the subject line -- GONE WITH THE WIND (book) -- and its
identity as a book or film in parentheses. Please hit reply without
changing the subject line when beginning a discussion so that the
discussion can be tracked.

BOOKS or FILMS, new or old, may be discussed. Please post links to any
online information that might be helpful in the discussion.
