Your character's life has suddenly, and permanently, changed. There’s
no going back. In 400 words or less, show how your protagonist adjusts
to the new normal. Your story may be set in the past, present or
future.

Sometimes, no matter how well one plans for the future, an unexpected
event will completely and permanently change those plans.
The change might be physical, financial, social or familial. It could
be a sweeping change that affects everyone and everything in your
character’s surroundings or a smaller event that involves just your
protagonist.

How does he/she feel about the changes in his/her life? What’s the
plan going forward? How do others react to the changes?

When you critique this scene, decide if you could identify with the
character’s reaction to the new normal. Did you emphasize with the
situation – or predicament? What about the ending - did it satisfy?
