Exercise: In 400 words or less, build a scene that centers on a selfie.
______________________
Most of us have taken a selfie. It s incredibly easy with a cell
phone. Think of the times you ve been inspired to take out your cell,
stare at the lens, snap a shot and then share it with Facebook or a
friend. And consider the many times you ve witnessed others going
through this ritual at a special event or at a scenic spot. Did you
people watch and make assumptions about their need for that
particular shot?
In the past, Practice prompts have used a painting or photograph to
flesh out a story. Your selfie scene can focus on one person taking
his/her photo or several people getting ready to pose for a group
shot. It might concern a selfie that s already been taken and under
discussion.

Critique: How did you react to the scene? Did it ring any bells;
remind you of similar scenes you ve watched in private or public
places? Were you amused, intrigued or drawn into the story? Did you
want to learn more about the situation?
