Exercise: At a Crossroads

These exercises were written by IWW members and administrators to provide structured practice opportunities for its members. You are welcome to use them for practice as well. Please mention that you found them at the Internet Writers Workshop (http://www.internetwritingworkshop.org/).

Exercise: In 400 words or less, create a scene in which a character must choose one of two unappealing actions.

______________________

Your story should clearly portray the character’s dilemma. Show us
the setting, what’s at stake and how the final decision could impact
the future.

______________________

Critique: Did you understand why the protagonist was torn between the
two options? Did you agree with the final choice? Why or why not?
